Assessment Timeline

The CMDB & CSDM Health Assessment spans five weeks, organized as follows: 

Week 1: Data Gathering & Initial Review 

Two 2-hour sessions to assess the CMDB architecture, current data state, Discovery logs, and CSDM 4.0 model implementation. Key stakeholder insights will be gathered. 

Weeks 2–3: Detailed Analysis & Stakeholder Collaboration 

In-depth review of CMDB health across Design, Usage, Data, and Governance categories. Parallel assessment of CSDM alignment, including service mapping, CI class relationships, and service ownership. Stakeholder interviews will help to validate pain points and identify areas for improvement. 

Weeks 4–5: Reporting & Strategic Roadmap Creation 

Delivery of a thorough CMDB and CSDM assessment report, including a Health Scorecard, actionable remediation recommendations, and a strategic roadmap aligned with organizational goals and ServiceNow best practices.

    Engagement Scope

    This assessment evaluates the effectiveness of your CMDB by reviewing its configuration, usage, and governance in the following key areas:

    Design: Analyzing how the CMDB is structured, including the forms, fields, and relationships in use. 

    Usage: Examining CI maintenance practices, updates, and dependency mappings to ensure data consistency.

    Data Integrity: Reviewing the rules, data sources, integrations, and overall data quality within the CMDB. 

    Governance: Assessing roles, workflows, dashboards, and data certification processes to identify gaps in management and oversight.
